Courses on Early Grade Reading Instruction
Reading is the foundational skill upon which all others build. This collection of courses focuses on Early Grade Reading Instruction for the Foundation Phase (Grades R to 3) in isiZulu Home Language.
- Early grade reading in a child’s home language, such as isiZulu, is critical in laying a solid basis for learning, cognitive development, and
cultural identity. - Cultivating a culture of love for reading in the classroom is crucial to your learners’ future success.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education is therefore pleased to offer the breakthrough teachers’ course Ukufundisa ukufunda emabangeni aphansi ngolimi lwesiZulu and the instructional leadership Supporting Reading Instruction in isiZulu Home Language in Your School courses.
In addition four extension modules have been developed covering the following:
