Respecting students’ rights and dignity, considering age, gender, culture and socioeconomic context. I am willing to be a different, more openminded teacher when it comes to the above code. Learners are being disgraced daily by their teachers so called professionals, they lose confidence and now afraid to share or reveal their true selves in schools therefore result in behavioral problem.

I strongly agree with you on that, more especially in primary schools where learners do not even understand their human rights or what to do. Many Learner’s rights and dignity are violated by irresponsible and uncaring educators who think they are untouchable and above the learners. Learners are still called names according to their physical appearances or socioeconomic backgrounds even on this democratic era😭😭

I think the promotion of gender equality in the classroom is very important right now in South Africa. My contribution in this will assist in addressing gender based violence, even if it is in a small way.

Educator and parent involvement is vital in my view. In the current era communicating with parents helps resolve hidden issues that learners have in relation to learning. Involving parents by asking them to sign their children’s books every weekend keeps them informed on their children’s progress and allows the teacher to help where possible. This will encourage learners to honour their schoolwork knowing that their parents monitor their work or progress.

Equity and Fairness: Treating all students equally, without discrimination or favoritism. Teachers should create an inclusive environment where every student has access to the same opportunities.

Being early / on time is critical for me. I agree with all the other agruments that you should lead by example and that is shows your reliable and not wasting anyone else’s time, but not only that. For me personally, getting there early gives you time to settle and “get your head in the game”. You can double check that you have everything you need and make sure your prepared. It shows how serious you take your responsibilities.

    Communication

I believe that being transparent to your learners and parents helps to build a good relationship. It serves well to communicate professionally in a respectful manner to learners so that they can also practice that.

In my opinion, corporal punishment is definitely a no go for me🙅‍♀️..but at the same time learners are taking advantage of it teachers are being bullied by these learners because they know even if they get expelled as some sort of positive punishment they will not be disadvantaged in any way. This make the teacher a figurative punching bag. Teachers have nothing in their hands to maintain order in class so that effective learning and teaching can commence hence the issue is never addressed.

Teaching and working with colleagues is the best! we learn so much from each other. We edify one another and it keeps us on our toes. I love that. ❤️

Teacher dress code, teachers must dress in a manner that is respectable and does not reveal their waist or their inner garments.

The issue of dress code needs to be strictly addressed. The dress code policy should be POSTED on the walls/notice boards as a reminder to some educators because this is really getting out of hand seriously.

The SACE Code of Conduct is there to promote that the educators of South Africa, upholds the standards of the teaching profession. 1. Promoting gender equality is important in helping learners reach their full potential. Every learner is unique and should be treated as such. As a teacher it is my responsibility to create a learning environment that is free from gender stereotypes and discrimination.

It’s a three legged pot teachers work with parents as a support team for each student.
