DRESS CODE- I think dress code is uttermost important. People tend to judge others based on how they are dressing. Therefore if you dress in a respectful manner learners/ people will give you the respect you need. But, if you don’t dress well, learners/people will not give you the kind of respect that is needed. Teachers need to avoid dressing in a way that confuses learners such as revealing clothes, very tight outfit, outfits that shows tattoes. This might shift their learning attention or give them inappropriate thoughts. Dress in a way that learners look up to and want to be like you

I absolutely agree with you.
Dress code: As teachers we are role models of many, our dress code says a lot about us. Let’s avoid dressing like we are going to pool parties. It is very crucial to be presentable at all times and that will also help to be respected by learners, colleagues and parents.

Dress code: i feel like as a professional we should dress the way we would like to be addressed so avoiding attire that are too revealing is very much important more especially since we are always standing in front of children it is even more difficult for parent to take you serious if you dress like you going on a night club while you’re on duty

Acknowledges the uniqueness, individuality, and specific needs of each learner, guiding and encouraging each to realise his or her potentialities. For me it is important to help each learner individually to develop themselves by addressing their needs and to help them overcome any struggles with learning so that they are able to improve their knowledge and skills.

Ethical Decision Making is Facilitated: Integrity assists professionals in making decisions that are consistent with their values and ideals, even when moral decisions arise. This consistency allows you to navigate complex situations more effectively.
-
Reputation and Respect: Professionals with a reputation for integrity are respected within their field and beyond. They are seen as principled individuals who prioritize doing what is right over personal or organizational benefits. This respect enhances their influence and credibility in professional circles.
-
Teachers must respect the right of learners and react to them humanely and fairly, I think teachers must understand learners starting point, thought and opinions.

Acknowledges the uniqueness, individuality, and specific needs of each learner, guiding and encouraging each to realise his or her potentialities is reducing discrimination while promoting positive and inclusive environment, promoting self-esteem and confidence.
-
The conduct on the educator and the learner which states that an educator acknowledges the uniqueness, individuals and the specific needs of each learner, guiding and encouraging each to realize his or her potentialities. Leaners are the important part of the educational system and each learner comes with their own differences or learning difficulties; therefore as educators we should get to know our learners individually so that we can be able to address their learning difficulties and nurture their potentials.

One critical characteristic from the Code of Professional Ethics, which is considered essential across various professions, is confidentiality.
Confidentiality is crucial for several reasons:
-
Trust and Professionalism: Maintaining confidentiality builds trust between professionals and their clients or colleagues. When individuals know their private information is safe, they are more likely to be open and honest, which enhances the quality of interaction and the effectiveness of professional relationships.
-
Legal and Ethical Obligations: Many professions have legal and ethical standards that mandate confidentiality. Breaching confidentiality can lead to legal consequences, such as lawsuits, and ethical repercussions, such as loss of credibility and professional sanctions.
-
Respect for Privacy: Respecting confidentiality demonstrates respect for individuals’ privacy rights. Professionals often deal with sensitive personal, financial, or health-related information, and protecting this data shows a commitment to respecting the dignity and autonomy of others.
-
Promotion of Open Communication: Confidentiality encourages open communication within professional settings. It allows individuals to seek advice, disclose concerns, or share information without fear of judgment or unauthorized disclosure.
-
Risk Management: Maintaining confidentiality is also crucial for managing risks associated with data breaches or unauthorized disclosures. It helps prevent potential harm to individuals or organizations that could result from the misuse or mishandling of sensitive information.

An educator should behave in a way that enhances the dignity and status of the teaching professions and that does not bring the profession into disrepute. My reflection on this ethics is that educators should speak calmly using clear communication, that should maintain self respect to learners by so saying there should be a line of respect and status between learners and teachers.
-
Educators should behave in a way that they need their learners to behave. Coporal punishment is abolished in South Africa, therefore some Educators found themselves between the rock and the hard surface in terms of instilling discipline in classroom. Educators should involve parents in a case where a learner is misbehaving/giving trouble in classroom.
-
Gender equality to me is critical because since I’ve been a student teacher and went to different schools for Teaching Practice. I noticed that there are more female teachers than male teachers in Primary Schools. That should be looked into and addressed accordingly.
-
A teacher is a life long learner meaning they should engage in professional development time and time again.
This will be useful on content and also help in delivering progressive education to learners.

“behaves in a way that enhances the dignity and status of the teaching
profession and that does not bring the profession into disrepute”. It is important for a teacher to uphold professionalism at all times in order to be both a parent and a role model to the learners for them to follow through. -
Communication is very much important, teachers should communicate with the learners in a way that learners feel free to open up and respect the teachers.
