Respecting dignity and constitutional rights of the learners in important. When teachers make an intentional effort to get to know each of their learners, it can foster in learners a sense of belonging and connection to school, which can build a foundation for academic success for both teacher and learners.

3.3 “strives to enable learners to develop a set of values consistent
with the fundamental rights contained in the Constitution of South Africa”-SACE Code of Professional EthicsAs a newly appointed educator, I have noticed that learners do not understand the psychological impact of being laughed at by fellow learners while attempting to express an opinion during class. I strive to encourage them to ‘stop and think’ how this would feel when tables were turned, how is this different from bullying, how this will compromise the learner’s self-esteem, how this takes away their right of expression. The language of instruction (English) seems to be a challenge for learners, and I feel that it is critical to always encourage them to make mistakes and build a vocabulary (through making mistakes), I believe that in time, this will improve how they respond on paper during an assessment. Sticking to a mother tongue is not always beneficial, the fellow learners are however, not always patient and understanding when grammar mistakes are made.

Cellphones must be regulated
As they may cause distraction and reduced productivity they can easily distract employees, leading to a decrease in focus and productivity. Frequent checking of messages, social media, or playing games can interrupt workflow and reduce overall output.

I think that acknowledging the uniqueness, individuality, and specific needs of each learner, guiding and encouraging each to realize his or her potentialities is important because this helps you in identify pupils who are slow in class and also those who learn quicker. This will help in planning your sessions with the learner and also helps in showing who needs more of your attention.

“Strives to enable learners to develop a set of values consistent with the fundamental rights contained in the Constitution of South Africa” We need citizens who have personal values that guide them in knowing what is good and/or acceptable vs what is bad and/or unacceptable. If our society is built on ethical conduct, everything else will fall into place, including combatting corruption, treating everyone with equal respect etc.
