Teachers can share strategies for differentiating instruction to meet the varied needs of learners, such as using flexible grouping.
-
PLC can analyse learners performance data to identify specific areas where they struggle, allowing for targeted interventions

I believe that one may experien ce some challenges when it comes to th establishment of a PLC as a result of seniority. Senior educators may feel that there is no need for them to get involved in PLC as they have been teaching for many years but then it will be my duty to open their eyes and show them the importance of all educators getting involved in and belonging to a PLC and why PLCs are essential for effective teaching and learning to take place.

I believe all the teacher can add value to the PLC, problem might be how we communicate and interact with each other.

<strong data-start=”343″ data-end=”426″>Low learner performance in reading comprehension across the intermediate phase.
Despite teachers’ efforts, many learners struggle to engage with texts, infer meaning, or answer higher-order comprehension questions. This impacts their performance across subjects, especially those requiring strong language skills (e.g., social sciences and natural sciences). Teachers often work in isolation, with little time to collaboratively address reading challenges or share strategies.

Experienced teachers can add value through sharing experiences and how to overcome challenges.

Opening PLC at our school will enable teachers to come with strategies on how to promote quality teaching and learning.

The possibility of starting a new PLC:
I work at a school for the Deaf and our primary form of communication is South African Sign Language (SASL) but a lot of our teacher’s struggle to develop their SASL skills. So, one of the things that we already do, as the SASL teachers, is host a weekly SASL class for the Foundation phase teachers to help them to develop their skills.
I think this would be a great program that can be turned into a PLC. We could open it up to other phases and make it a bit more interesting for the teachers. This could be a larger collaboration effort where we work with the SASL resources and really improve our SASL skills as a group.

I think a problem that the PCL could look into is new teacher induction as schools dont have time to induct and one is left to figure thing out on your own as everyone is too busy.

I will introduce a new PLC at my school to address challenges of lack of resources for Coding and Robotics. in this PLC we will explore alternatives of unplugged coding to kick start the new subjects. Learners and teachers will solve problems on daily bases. required skills will be taught and PLC will assist in resource sourcing and donations.
