New PLC Arts and Culture Society:
Our school doesn’t have many extra mural activities. We have soccer and athletics. We are also a Massa School, as a Visual Art and Creative Arts teacher I get exposed to a lot of creative kids with MASSIVE amounts of talent, but when it comes to subject choice, learners with creative ability are forced to do subject for their career choices(understandably so) and as a result have to neglect their creative side. This is quite detrimental to creative pupils. Opening an Arts and Culture society will present non-academic opportunities for learners to express themselves….not only will the have the benefit of doing something creative that they love, they will do it without any pressure for good marks. People who enjoy their jobs produce higher quality work performance, this will also allow learners, who might not be as booksmart, another opportunity to prune their creative and practical skills. Teachers who will involve themselves, will be granted the opportunity to build better quality relationships with learners, and that will perhaps bridge the communication gap in classrooms.

We as teachers, we need to keep on updating our educational knowledge, since times are changing on daily bases

1.Reflect on the possibility of starting a new PLC. 2.What is the problem that will be explored? 3.Who in your school do you think would add value to this PLC?
1. Starting a new PLC at my school will be beneficial for majority of my colleagues. Facilitating the PLC at the school will make it convenient for teachers. What we should particularly focus on is ICT and professional development. Having internal communities at the school and partnering with neighbouring schools will allow teachers to network, develop, adapt and encourage one another to remain committed to the changes in education and development.
2. The problem of lack of skills/professional development, managing administrative duties, and staying up to date with changes in the education landscape.
3. Several colleagues can form part in facilitating a PLC. Some can contribute with their skills and transfer it to others.

We have decided to begin by collaborating amongst ourselves as teacher and form PLC with the two neighboring schools to share strategies and teaching styles that we use as individuals to assist each other to enhance our teaching and support of learners in need.

I THINK PLC IS ABOUT SHARING OF IDEAS TO COME UP WITH THE BEST SOLUTION AND I BELIEVE ALL EDUCATORS CAN ADD VALUE TO PLC BY SHARING BRAINSTORMING AND SHARE IDEAS

Creating PLCs will be much beneficial to both teachers and learners as teachers will be coming with ideas on how to tackle certain topics in subjects that a difficult for learners. In that way teachers will be learning from one another

The functioning and longevity of a PLC is extremely dependent on the alignment of interests, vission and mission of the educators joining the initiative. All educators values are crucial, as crucial as their interest in continued professional development
