As teachers, we play a crucial role in creating a positive and conducive learning environment.

I am interested in hearing about your experiences and insights regarding professional development opportunities or courses that focus on understanding student behavior and discipline. Have any of you participated in such programs? What resources, courses, or workshops have you found helpful in developing your knowledge and skills in this area?

It is very much important to know all your learners and their backgrounds. This will help you as an educator to deal with the issues and supporting of learners with their challenges. In this role you need to be a parent to the learner, motivator by clearly showing the learners positivity of achievement.

I’ve found that professional development opportunities, such as workshops on positive behavioral interventions and supports and restorative practices, have been instrumental in helping me understand student behavior and develop effective discipline strategies. Some valuable resources I’ve come across include the Responsive Classroom website, and books like “The Social Animal” by Elliot Aronson. These resources have provided me with practical strategies for creating a positive classroom environment and building strong relationships with my learners
