If you have a learner in the class who has a learning barrier that prevents the learner from focusing in the classroom, and this very same learner struggles to complete his work in class. As a teacher, what would you do to help the learner focus without using any corporal punishment?

Consult with the learner, observe the learner then develop a support plan.

I will empower such students so that they may have confidence to establish their goals and find their own way, however I will offer supportive learning environment so students can reach beyond potential barriers toward their education

To help a learner focus without using corporal punishment, I would start by identifying the root cause of their lack of focus. Maybe they’re struggling with the material, or perhaps there’s something personal going on that’s distracting them. Once I understand the reason, I’d work with the learner to create a personalized plan to help them stay on track. This might involve breaking down larger tasks into smaller, manageable chunks, providing extra support and resources, and setting clear goals and expectations.
