I start out good, but somewhere along the way I end up with a huge pile of papers that have to be filed somewhere. Then they get boxed to be never found again. 🙆♀️

Who in your school do you think would add value to this PLC?Starting a new PLC will be both exciting and challenging as a new teacher. Teachers are very busy and have little time left after teaching, marking and planning. It will be a challenge to get already overworked teachers to join in a new PLC. Senior members of the school will be a big help to get it of the ground.

(see Annex 1 for more information on PLCs)There are no PLC groups in my school or community. The only professional growth training I get is from workshops, QMS meetings and Phase meetings. If there where, I would surely have joined a PLC.

I selected this Union, because their values are the same as mine. They do care for their members and came through with good results in the past. This union is willing to negotiate and do not take to the streets or strike actions, without through talks and negotiations. I think it is essential for every teacher to belong to an union that can back you in disputes and unfair situations in a school.

Identify one characteristic and reflect on why you consider it critical.I think a new teacher will not get it right from the start to act professionally at all times, but it is expected of a new teacher to grow professionally as he/she grows in competence and capability in the teaching profession. No teacher is an island and it is wise to keep an open mind, be teachable at all times and connect to more seasoned teachers that knows the ways of the Department and the school.
